The Beginning of March Brings Another Winter Storm to Baltimore
Thursday Feb 28th, 2019
Snow Expected Overnight May Impact the Friday Morning Commute
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation Director Michelle Pourciau would like to encourage citizens to plan ahead for inclement weather expected early Friday morning in Baltimore. Another winter storm system is headed to our region, bringing snow during the early morning hours and possibly some sleet before ending.
The Baltimore City Snow Team is prepared for the winter precipitation and will closely monitor weather and roadway conditions. Crews will be treating primary roads and city gateways today with salt brine, and will activate at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, March 01, 2019 to plow city streets in preparation for the morning commute.
“Slippery conditions could develop on this first day of March, so we encourage citizens to use extreme caution if traveling Friday morning,” said Director Pourciau. “We want to remind citizens to ‘take it slow on ice and snow’ for everyone’s safety, and to delay their morning commute on Friday if possible to avoid traveling during the storm.”
Citizens are encouraged to plan ahead and be prepared for the Friday morning commute, as accumulating snow and mixed precipitation may cause hazardous driving conditions. Motorists are strongly advised to allow additional travel time, drive at reduced speeds and increase following distance.
For updated weather forecasts and traffic conditions, citizens should tune into local media stations. Citizens can also find updated information at snow.baltimorecity.gov and by following DOT on Twitter @BmorecityDOT and Facebook at Baltimore City Department of Transportation.
