W. Patapsco Avenue Rehabilitation From Magnolia Ave. to Potee St.

W. Patapsco Avenue Rehabilitation From Magnolia Ave. to Potee St.

W. Patapsco Avenue, TR19307, is a 6-lane 1.5-mile project that extends from Magnolia Avenue in the east to Potee Street in the west. The concrete road is about 60 years old and needs substantial rehabilitation. This important roadway is heavily used by commuters, trucks, and MTA buses and connects to an MTA light rail station. We are addressing the underserved needs of pedestrians (sidewalks are lacking) and bicyclists (this route is on the City’s bike masterplan) based upon federal ADA regulations and the City’s Complete Streets ordinance and proposed manual design.

The non-automotive users will be accommodated by reducing the number of automotive travel lanes and two alternatives will be presented. This project will also accommodate proposed drainage improvements by DPW and access improvements by MTA to their light rail station. Federal funds will pay for most of the work and construction is tentatively scheduled for fall 2023.

Purpose and Need

• Rehabilitate the deteriorated roadway pavement

• Accommodate Non-Motorist

• Pedestrians (Not currently accommodated) • Bicyclists (Masterplan)

• Leverage Other Agency’s Improvements
