Weekend Road Closures for Saturday, August 19th through Sunday, August 20th, 2023

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary traffic modifications and road closures for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.


Traffic Modifications for Mayor Scott's Back to School Event

The BCDOT would like to advise motorists that temporary traffic modifications will be implemented this Saturday for Mayor Scott's Back to School Event which will be held at War Memorial Plaza.  

In preparation for the event, the following road and lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from approximately 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Lexington Street closed between Guilford Avenue and Gay Street
  • Holliday Street closed between Lexington Street and Saratoga Street 
  • Curb lane closure along the west side of Gay Street between Fayette Street and Lexington Street  
  • Curb lane closure along the north side of Fayette Street between Gay Street and Holliday Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Community Awareness/Back to School Rally

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for the Community Awareness/Back to School Rally which will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Eden Street closed between Biddle Street and Chase Street
  • Chase Street closed between Eden Street and Central Avenue

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Our Annual Marcus Garvey Day Parade

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for Our Annual Marcus Garvey Day Parade which will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Cumberland Street closed from Carey Street to Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Pennsylvania Avenue closed from Cumberland Street to Dolphin Street
  • Dolphin Street closed from Pennsylvania Avenue to Fremont Avenue
  • Fremont Avenue closed from Dolphin Street to Edmondson Avenue
  • Edmondson Avenue closed from Dolphin Street to Gilmor Street

Parade Route:
The parade will stage and kick off along Cumberland Street between Carey Street and Pennsylvania Avenue.  Parade participants will:

  • Turn right onto Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Turn right onto Dolphin Street
  • Turn left onto Fremont Avenue 
  • Turn right onto Edmondson Avenue 
  • Parade ends in Harlem Square Park at the intersection of Gilmor Street

Temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the parade for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

Lane Closures for a CFG Bank Arena Event

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena.

The following lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, August 19, 2023 starting at approximately 8:30 p.m. and lasting until 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 20, 2023:

  • Left lane of Howard Street, from Camden Street to Pratt Street
  • Left lane of Pratt Street from Eutaw Street to Howard Street 
  • Right lane of Lombard Street from Hopkins Plaza to Howard Street 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Right of Way Cleaning and Crane Operations

The following road and lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, August 19, 2023 (times are approximate):

  • Northbound and southbound Hilton Parkway right lane closures from Edmondson Avenue to North Avenue 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (right of way cleaning)
  • Madison Street closed between Rutland Avenue and Broadway 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Penn Street closed between Lemmon Street and Pratt Street 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (crane operation) 

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

In preparation for the event, the following road and lane closures will be implemented on Sunday, August 20, 2023 from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
