Weekend Road Closures for Friday, April 5th Through Sunday, April 7, 2024

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

 

Traffic Modifications for the South Baltimore Little League Parade

This Saturday, temporary traffic modifications will be implemented for the 67th annual South Baltimore Little League Parade.

The parade will kick off from the intersection of Covington Street and E. Randall Street, and will proceed north on Covington Street, right onto E. Fort Avenue and right on Woodall Street to finish at the entrance of the South Baltimore Little League field.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from approximately 7:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Covington Street from E. Fort Avenue to Dead End
  • Webster Street from E. Fort Avenue to E. Randall Street
  • E. Randall Street from Webster Street to Riverside Avenue
  • E. Fort Avenue from Covington Street to Woodall Street
  • Woodall Street from E. Fort Avenue to Whetstone Way

During the parade, temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Charm City Circulator Service AlertOn Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Charm City Circulator will be operating its regular service hours with detours implemented during this event.  Patrons should visit or download the Passio Go! app for detour information.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Under Armour Sole of the City 10K

This Saturday, temporary traffic modifications will be implemented for the Under Armour Sole of the City 10K Run. The 10K course kicks off in Harbor Point at 8:30 a.m.

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • S. Central Avenue from Fleet Street to Dock Street
  • S. Caroline Street from Eastern Avenue to Thames Street
  • Dock Street west of S. Caroline Street
  • Point Street from S. Central Avenue to Thames Street
  • Wills Street south of Dock Street

Race Route:

  • Start on Caroline St (heading north) near 923 S. Caroline Street.
  • Turn left on Eastern Avenue and then left on the promenade behind McCormick & Schmidt, heading toward Pier Five and the Seven-Foot Knoll Lighthouse.
  • Continue to the lighthouse, clockwise around the harborside of the lighthouse.
  • Turn left onto the wooden bridge towards the Aquarium. Proceed straight between the buildings and turn right to head north towards Pratt Street.
  • At the wide bridge directly in front of Barnes & Noble, turn left, heading directly toward the Top of the World Observation Deck.
  • Continue along the promenade to pass through the lower left side of the Amphitheater. Continue along the promenade to pass the Science Center on the right.
  • At the entrance to the BGE Pavilion, turn right to exit the promenade through the Science Center driveway entrance.
  • Turn right onto Key Highway.
  • Bear right onto Light Street.
  • Bear right onto Pratt Street.
  • Turn left on Patterson Park Avenue.
  • Turn right into Patterson Park across from Lombard Street.
  • Turn right onto main path in Patterson Park. At the fountain, turn left, following the perimeter pathway around toward the main circular pavilion. Pass the circular pavilion and continue heading downhill to the turnaround point (on the main path roughly between the two baseball fields) before heading back on the lower road (below the circular pavilion).  Proceed around the west side of the duck pond onto sidewalk path to descend toward Eastern Avenue at Patterson Park Avenue. Transition to the street and turn left on Patterson Park Avenue.
  • Turn right on Fleet Street.
  • Turn left on S. Central Avenue and continue to finish the race at the intersection of S. Central Ave and Dock Street (heading south).

During the event, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants wherever possible along the race route.  Transportation Enforcement Officers along with the Baltimore City Police will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic.  Motorists should be aware that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in these vicinities should expect delays, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes during the event.

Charm City Circulator Service AlertOn Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Charm City Circulator will be operating its regular service hours with detours implemented along the Orange and Green Routes from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the Under Armour Sole of the City 10K.  Patrons should visit or download the Passio Go! app for detour information.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Street Food Festival

This weekend, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Street Food Festival which will be held at Power Plant Live.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, until 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2024 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Water Street closed between Frederick Street and Market Place
  • Market Place closed between Water and Lombard Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be in effect for various activities.

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the following lane closures will be implemented (times approximate):

  • Hilton Parkway northbound and southbound right lane closures between North Avenue and Hilton Street 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)
  • Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 northbound right lane closures between North Avenue and the city/county line 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (street lighting repairs)
  • Falls Road ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 closure 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (street lighting repairs)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the opening weekend of the Baltimore Farmers' Market, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, April 7, 2024, the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with parking restrictions in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from E. Pleasant Street to E. Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure between Front Street and Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
