MCVET 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications in effect for the MCVET 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run which will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2016 starting at 7:30 a.m.   

The 5K kicks off at 7:30 a.m. from the intersection of Lexington and Holliday Streets.   Participants will proceed right on N. Frederick Street, right on E. Fayette Street, left on St. Paul/Light Street, and left on Key Highway to the turnaround point at Cross Street.  Runners will continue back along Key Highway, then right on Light Street to Calvert Street and right on Lexington Street to the finish line.

The 10K kicks off at 8:30 a.m. from the intersection of Lexington and Holliday Streets.   Participants will proceed right on N. Frederick Street, right on E. Fayette Street, left on St. Paul/Light Street, and left on Key Highway to the turnaround point at Cross Street.  Runners will continue back along Key Highway, then right on Lawrence Street and left on Fort Avenue to the turnaround point near Fort McHenry.  The course proceeds right on Lawrence Street, left on Key Highway, right on Light Street to Calvert Street and right on Lexington Street to the finish line.

In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Sunday, May 29, 2016 from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.:

  • Holliday Street between Saratoga and Lexington Streets
  • Lexington Street between Guilford Avenue and Gay Street

In addition, at least one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route.  Commuters should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the event for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
