Edmondson Avenue Bridge Replacement Project to Begin
Friday Dec 2nd, 2016
Lane closures and changing traffic patterns will be installed December 5
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that the Edmondson Avenue Bridge Replacement Project is now underway.
Starting on Monday, December 05, 2016 new traffic patterns will be installed along the Edmondson Avenue Bridge from Denison Street to N. Longwood Street for median removal and utility work.
During this phase of construction, full time center lane closures will be installed along the bridge. Crews will also implement additional lane closures along the bridge during non-peak travel times. Construction work will also occur along the northbound Hilton Street ramp in order to complete the traffic pattern changes for the bridge replacement.
As construction begins along the bridge, two lanes of through traffic will remain open to commuters during peak hour travel times. Motorists should be advised that traffic may be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction along the bridge during non-peak travel times as construction progresses. Flagging operations may also be implemented when needed.
Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns. Travel lanes will be narrowed and concrete jersey barriers will be installed during construction.
With over 50,000 vehicles traveling Edmondson Avenue each day, motorists should expect delays during construction. Citizens should plan ahead by allowing additional travel time and using alternate routes such as Windsor Mill Road, Frederick Avenue or Wilkens Avenue. Commuters should also consider using mass transit.
