Lombard Street Temporary Closure for Crane Operation

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of W. Lombard Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.  On Saturday, March 09, 2019, W. Lombard Street will be closed to through traffic between Greene and Penn Streets from 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with detours in effect, weather permitting. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

20th Street Crane Operation

This weekend, a portion of W. 20th Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, March 09 and Sunday, March 10, 2019, W. 20th Street will be closed to through traffic between N. Charles Street and Maryland Avenue from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.  Detours will be in effect during these times.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Dolfield Avenue Crane Operation

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of Dolfield Avenue for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, March 09, 2019, temporary lane closures will be implemented along Dolfield Avenue between Wallington Avenue and Garrison Boulevard from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. weather permitting.  One lane of through traffic will remain open during these times and a flagging operation will be implemented to direct motorists through the work zone.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Eden Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of S. Eden Street for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, March 09, 2019, temporary lane closures will be implemented along S. Eden Street between Eastern Avenue and Fleet Street from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weather permitting.  One lane of through traffic will remain open during these times and a flagging operation will be implemented to direct motorists through the work zone.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Traffic Modifications for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Shamrock 5K Run

On Sunday, March 10, 2019 temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  The event begins at 2:00 p.m. and will kick off from the intersection of Charles and Centre Streets.  The parade will proceed south on Charles Street and east on Pratt Street to the disband area along Market Place. 

Parade participants will begin forming at approximately 11:30 a.m. in the vicinity of the Washington Monument.  The parade should last about three hours and   periodic breaks in the march will allow vehicular and pedestrian traffic to cross the parade route.  Motorists are advised that temporary traffic stops will be implemented during the event for the safety of participants

Prior to the parade, the Shamrock 5K Run will be held at the intersection of Charles and Franklin Streets beginning at 1:15 p.m.  Participants will proceed south on Charles Street, east on Conway Street, south on Light Street and east on Key Highway.  Runners will turn around at Jackson Street and proceed westbound on Key Highway, north on Light Street and then east on Pratt Street.  The race will end at Pratt Street and Market Place. 

Throughout the race, a designated travel lane will be separated with traffic cones for participants along the course route.  In addition, Key Highway will be closed to through traffic at Lawrence Street for the duration of the 5K Run (access for local traffic will be maintained).

Road closures on Sunday, March 10, 2019 during the St. Patrick’s Day Parade:

11:30 a.m. – Market Place from Pratt to Water Streets

11:30 a.m. – Charles Street from Centre Street to Madison Avenue

11:30 a.m. – Mt. Vernon Place from Cathedral to St. Paul Streets

11:30 a.m. – Centre Street from Park Avenue to St. Paul Street

12:00 p.m. – Charles Street from Saratoga to Centre Streets

1:00 p.m. – Charles Street from Conway to Centre Streets

1:45 p.m. – Pratt Street from Howard to President Streets

Parking restrictions will be in effect along the parade and race routes from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.:

Mt. Vernon Place from Cathedral to St. Paul Streets

Centre Street from Park Avenue to St. Paul Street

Charles Street from Conway to Read Streets

Market Place from Charles to Water Streets

Pratt Street from Gay to President Streets (north side)

Key Highway from Battery Avenue to Covington Street (south side)

Transportation Enforcement Officers will assist the Baltimore City Police with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
