Weekend Closure of Northern Parkway Scheduled for April 5-7th

New pedestrian bridge will be erected over Northern Parkway, weather permitting

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of Northern Parkway is scheduled to close the first weekend in April for the installation of a new pedestrian bridge, weather permitting.

Starting at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 05, 2019, westbound Northern Parkway will be closed to through traffic between Cylburn Avenue and Greenspring Avenue with detours in effect.  Then at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 06, 2019 eastbound Northern Parkway will also close to through traffic with detours in effect.  Both directions of Northern Parkway will remain closed throughout the weekend as the pedestrian bridge is erected, and the entire roadway will be reopened to traffic by 5:00 a.m. on Monday, April 08, 2019.

During the closure, the exit ramps to westbound Northern Parkway from the Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 will remain open for motorists.  Citizens traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Detours during closure:

Westbound Northern Parkway traffic will be detoured left (south/west) on Cylburn Avenue, right (north) on Greenspring Avenue, and left (west) back onto westbound Northern Parkway.  

Eastbound Northern Parkway traffic will be detoured right (south) on Greenspring Avenue, left (north/east) on Cylburn Avenue and right (east) on Northern Parkway.
