Weekend Road Closures for March 29-31, 2019

Traffic Modifications for the Maryland Greek Independence Day Parade

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the road closures in effect for the Maryland Greek Independence Day parade which will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 starting at 2:00 p.m. 

The parade begins at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Haven Street and proceeds east on Eastern Avenue and south on Ponca Street.  The parade will disband two blocks past the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at Fait Avenue.

Parade participants will begin forming at 11:00 a.m. along Eastern Avenue in the vicinity of the Eastern Avenue underpass between Haven and Lehigh Streets.  In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Ponca Street from Eastern Avenue to Hudson Street
  • Eastern Avenue from Haven to Ponca Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes.  Please note that temporary traffic stops may be implemented in the vicinity of the parade for the safety of participants.

 

Lane Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX) for tree trimming activities and street light repairs.  On Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., temporary lane closures will be implemented along the northbound Jones Falls Expressway from Northern Parkway to the county line, and on the southbound Jones Falls Expressway between the county line and Falls Road.

In addition to the lane closures, the following ramps will also intermittently close during these times with detours in effect:

  • Southbound JFX exit ramp to Druid Park Lake Drive
  • Westbound Druid Park Lake Drive entrance ramp to the northbound JFX
  • Falls Road entrance ramp to the southbound JFX

 

Haven Street Construction Work

This weekend, a portion of Haven Street will temporarily close for building construction work.  On Saturday, March 30 and Sunday March 31, 2019, Haven Street will be closed to through traffic between Hudson and Dillon Streets from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, with detours and parking restrictions in effect. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Wolfe Street Lane Closures

On Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of Wolfe Street for a crane lift operation.  On Saturday, March 30, 2019, lane closures will be implemented along Wolfe Street between Jefferson and Orleans Streets from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  At least one lane of through traffic will remain open for motorists during this time.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
