Weekend Road Closures for March 6-8, 2020

Hanover Street Bridge Closure Scheduled for This Weekend

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that the Hanover Street Bridge/Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will temporarily close this weekend for maintenance work. 

Starting at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2020 the Hanover Street Bridge / Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Waterview Avenue and Cromwell Street with detours in effect, weather permitting.  The bridge will remain closed until approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Once the bridge reopens on Sunday, lane closures will be implemented along the bridge both northbound and southbound for approximately 60 days.  During this time, one lane of through traffic will remain open for motorists in each direction.  Traffic patterns will shift across the bridge as repairs are made to the deck grating, and motorists traveling on the bridge should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns.

During the closure, citizens should utilize Russell Street/MD-295 as an alternate route: 

Southbound Hanover Street detour:

Southbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured south on I-95, south on MD-295, south on Waterview Avenue via the Annapolis Road exit, then back to Hanover Street.

Northbound Hanover Street detour:

Northbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured west on Waterview Avenue, north on MD-295, east on Hamburg Street back to Hanover Street. 

 

Lane Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX) for streetlighting work. 

On Saturday, March 7, 2020, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the Jones Falls Expressway between Cold Spring Lane and Chase Street from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Boston Street Flagging Operation

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented along Boston Street at the intersection of Haven Street for utility repair work.  On Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, 2020 temporary lane closures will be implemented along Boston Street at the intersection of Haven Street from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.  A traffic flagging operation will be implemented at this intersection during these times to direct motorists through the work zone.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

Lane Closures Along Pennington Avenue, Hawkins Point Road and Fort Smallwood Road

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along Pennington Avenue, Hawkins Point Road and Fort Smallwood Road for cleaning activities.  On Saturday, March 07, 2020, single right lane closures will be implemented along southbound Pennington Avenue, Hawkins Point Road and Fort Smallwood Road from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  One lane of southbound travel will remain open for motorists during this time.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

W. 20th Street Crane Lift

This Sunday, a portion of W. 20th Street will be closed for a crane operation.  On Sunday, March 08, 2020, W. 20th Street will be closed through traffic between Charles Street and Maryland Avenue from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
