Weekend Road Closures for June 12-14, 2020

Hanover Street Bridge Closure Scheduled For This Weekend

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that the Hanover Street Bridge/Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will temporarily close this weekend for maintenance work. 

Starting at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 the Hanover Street Bridge / Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Waterview Avenue and Cromwell Street with detours in effect, weather permitting.  The bridge will remain closed until approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Variable message signs will be deployed in the area to alert motorists of the closure.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

During the closure, citizens should utilize Russell Street/MD-295 as an alternate route: 

Southbound Hanover Street detour:

Southbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured south on I-95, south on MD-295, south on Waterview Avenue via the Annapolis Road exit, then back to Hanover Street.

Northbound Hanover Street detour:

Northbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured west on Waterview Avenue, north on MD-295, east on Hamburg Street back to Hanover Street. 

 

Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions in Fells Point 

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented in Fells Point.

The following roadways will be closed to through traffic in Fells Point on Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. each evening:

  • Lancaster Street at Ann Street
  • Lancaster Street at Bond Street
  • Bethel Street at Aliceanna Street
  • Shakespeare Street at Bond Street
  • Caroline Street at Thames Street
  • Bond Street at Thames Street
  • Broadway at Aliceanna Street
  • Broadway at Thames Street
  • Aliceanna Street at Register Street
  • Thames Street at Ann Street 

In addition, the following parking restrictions will also be implemented in Fells Point on Friday, June 12 through Sunday, June 14, 2020 daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.:

  • Broadway from Aliceanna to Lancaster Streets
  • Broadway from Shakespeare to Thames Streets
  • 1700-1800 blocks of Thames Street
  • 1600-1700 blocks of Lancaster Street
  • 1600 block of Shakespeare Street 

Fells Point visitors and residents should pay close attention to all posted parking restrictions and avoid parking in restricted areasResidential permit parking (RPP) areas will be strictly enforced throughout the weekend.  To ensure that Fells Point residents have access to parking near their homes, residents will be allowed to access areas closed to through traffic with their residential parking permits.

As we continue efforts to reduce vehicular traffic and enhance the pedestrian experience in historic Fells Point, motorists traveling in this area should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Wolfe Street Temporary Closure

This weekend, a portion of N. Wolfe Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.  Starting at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020, N. Wolfe Street will be closed to through traffic between Monument and McElderry Streets with detours and parking restrictions in effect, weather permitting.  This portion of N. Wolfe Street will remain closed until approximately 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
