Weekend Road Closures for May 21-23, 2021

Lane Closures Along the Northbound Jones Falls Expressway

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that temporary lane closures will be implemented along the northbound Jones Falls Expressway this weekend for street lighting repair work. 

On Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23, 2021, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the northbound Jones Falls Expressway between Madison Street and Falls Road from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.  

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Temporary Lane Closures Along E. Pratt Street

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of E. Pratt Street for a crane operation. 

Starting at 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021, a triple lane closure will be implemented along E. Pratt Street between S. Gay Street and Constellation Way.  These lane closures will remain in effect along E. Pratt Street until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021.

Motorists traveling in this area should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Portions of Charles Street to Close This Saturday

Charm City Circulator’s Purple Route will be detoured during this time 

This Saturday, portions of Charles Street will be closed for the Charles Street Promenade.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021 portions of Charles Street will be closed to through traffic between Saratoga Street and North Avenue from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect.  During this time, a number of cross streets along this stretch of Charles Street will remain open for vehicular traffic, including Saratoga, Mulberry, Franklin, Centre, Monument Street/Mount Vernon Place, Madison, Biddle, Chase, Mount Royal, Lanvale and North Ave.  The access ramp to I-83/Jones Falls Expressway will also remain open with access from Mount Royal Avenue to Charles Street.

In preparation for closure, parking restrictions will be implemented along this stretch of Charles Street starting as early as 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021.   Motorists planning to park in this vicinity should pay close attention to posted parking restrictions and are strongly encouraged to utilize area garages and surface lots.  Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed. 

During this Saturday’s closure of Charles Street, a portion of the Charm City Circulator’s (CCC) Purple Route will be detoured and temporary stop closures along Charles Street will be implemented throughout the day.   The Purple Route will be detoured onto Calvert Street after Stop 302 (The Gallery) and will proceed north on Calvert and west on North Avenue to resume the normal Charles Street route.

The CCC buses will stop at designated MDOT MTA bus stops along this temporary route on Saturday to pick up and discharge passengers as needed.  Riders will be able to board the Charm City Circulator at all other designated stops during this time.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, Charles Street will be closed to through traffic between E. Lexington and E. Saratoga Streets from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with detours in effect, weather permitting. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

N. Wolfe Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, a portion of N. Wolfe Street will be closed for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, N. Wolfe Street will be closed to through traffic between E. Monument and Jefferson Streets from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with detours in effect, weather permitting.

W. Lexington Street Crane Operation

This Saturday, a portion of W. Lexington Street will be closed for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, W. Lexington Street will be closed to through traffic between N. Howard and N. Eutaw Streets from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with detours in effect, weather permitting. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Lane Closures Along MD-295

This Sunday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along MD-295 for cleaning activities. 

On Sunday, May 23, 2021, temporary lane closures will be implemented along northbound and southbound MD-295 between Bush Street and Annapolis Road from 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.  In addition, intermittent ramp closures will be implemented throughout the day with detours in effect, including:

  • Westport entrance and exit ramps
  • Annapolis Road entrance and exit ramps
  • Monroe Street ramps to northbound and southbound MD-295
  • Waterview Avenue exit ramp from northbound MD-295

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, May 23, 2021 the following streets will be closed to through traffic from 5:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Hillen Street from Fallsway to Holliday Street
  • Holliday Street from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Holliday Street at Pleasant Street off ramp left lane closure

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
