Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions in Fells Point

Additional road closures will be implemented Saturday and Sunday for the Fells Point Fun Festival

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented this weekend in Fells Point.

Starting on Friday, October 1, 2021 and continuing each evening through Sunday, October 3, 2021, all through traffic will be restricted in Fells Point from approximately 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. within the following geographical boundaries:

  • South of Aliceanna Street
  • North of Thames Street
  • East of S. Bond Street
  • West of S. Ann Street

In preparation for the Fells Point Fun Festival, Thames Street will be closed to through traffic between Point and Bond Streets starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 through 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with detours and parking restrictions in effect. 

In addition, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic from 6:00 a.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021 until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with detours and parking restrictions in effect for the festival:

  • Broadway between Fleet and Thames Streets
  • Ann Street between Lancaster and Thames Streets (partial closure at Ann and Aliceanna Streets)
  • 1630 Lancaster Street to Broadway
  • 1703 Lancaster Street to Broadway
  • 838 Bond Street to Thames Street
  • 1631 Shakespeare Street to Broadway
  • 909 Fell Street to Thames Street

Various parking restrictions will be implemented in Fells Point throughout the weekend.  Fells Point visitors and residents should pay close attention to all posted parking restrictions and avoid parking in restricted areas.  Parking restrictions will be strictly enforced throughout the duration of the festival for everyone’s safety.

Residential Permit Parking will be strictly enforced throughout the weekend in Fells Point (RPP Area 16) and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed.  Fells Point Residential Permit Parking in Area 16 will be enforced along the following roadways:

• Aliceanna Street     • Broadway

• Fleet Street              • Shakespeare Street

• Ann Street               • Thames Street

• Lancaster Street     • Dallas Street

• Bethel Street           • Wolfe Street

• Register Street        • Durham Street

• Bond Street             • Fell Street

To ensure that residents have access to parking near their homes, residents will be allowed to access areas closed to through traffic with their ‘Area 16’ Residential Parking permits.

Motorists should be aware that additional road closures and parking restrictions may be implemented in the vicinity of Fells Point throughout the weekend if needed.  Motorists traveling in this area should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. 

 

Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions for the International Edgar Allan Poe Festival

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the International Edgar Allen Poe Festival which will be held at the Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum on Amity Street.

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic from approximately 6:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021 through 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • N. Amity Street between W. Saratoga and W. Fayette Streets
  • W. Lexington Street between N. Poppleton and N. Schroeder Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions for the Italian Heritage Festival

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the Italian Heritage Festival which will be held in Little Italy.

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic from approximately 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021 through 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • S. Exeter Street between E. Pratt and Fawn Streets
  • Stiles Street from S. High to Lloyd Streets

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Lane Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway for streetlighting work.

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, temporary right lane closures will be implemented along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway between the Falls Road entrance ramp and Guilford Avenue from approximately 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  In addition, the Falls Road entrance ramp to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway will also temporarily close during this time with detours in effect.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Portion of N. Caroline Street to Close for Crane Lift

This Saturday, a portion of northbound N. Caroline Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation.

On Saturday, October 2, 2021, northbound N. Caroline Street will be closed to through traffic between E. Hoffman and E. Oliver Streets from approximately 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, October 3, 2021 the following streets will be closed to through traffic from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Hillen Street from Fallsway to Holliday Street
  • Holliday Street from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Holliday Street at Pleasant Street off ramp left lane closure

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Sowebo Landmark 5K Race

This Sunday, temporary road and lane closures will be implemented for the 9th annual Sowebo Landmark 5K Footrace which kicks off from Union Square Park at 9:00 a.m.

Participants will start along Hollins Street at the intersection of Stricker Street.  Runners will proceed east on Hollins Street, right on Schroeder Street, left on Lemon Street, right on Poppleton Street and right on Pratt Street.  The race proceeds left through the B & O Railroad Museum Service Entrance, through the museum grounds and exit left onto Arlington Street.  The course continues across the railroad tracks and then right onto James Street.  Participants will then turn left on Bayard Street to enter Carroll Park at the Washington Boulevard entrance and follow marked trails in the park up to Mount Clare Mansion.  Runners will exit the park by turning right on Bayard Street, then left on James Street, left on Arlington Avenue, and left onto Hollins Street to finish at the HL Mencken House.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Sunday, October 03, 2021 from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.:

  • Gilmore Street – Lombard Street to Hollins Street (Registration)
  • Hollins Street – Gilmore Street to Stricker Street (Formation)

In addition, one lane of traffic will be closed for the runners along the course route where possible.  Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops may be implemented along the race route for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity are encouraged to watch for pedestrians and use alternate routes.

 

Sunday Road Closures and Parking Restrictions for the Fiesta Baltimore 2021 Festival & Parade

This Sunday, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented for the Fiesta Baltimore 2021 Festival and Parade which will be held in Patterson Park.

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic on Sunday, October 3, 2021 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Linwood Avenue between Eastern Avenue and Pratt Street from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (festival)
  • Eastern Avenue between S. Haven Street and Linwood Avenue from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (parade)

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
