Weekend Road Closures for April 8-10, 2022

Weekend Closure of Ramp from Southbound I-95 to Southbound MD 295

Weekend ramp closures will continue into Summer 2022

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that weekend closures of the ramp from southbound I-95 to southbound MD 295 will occur for ongoing work related to the Maryland Transportation Authority’s deck rehabilitation and joint modifications project on eight bridges along I-95 in Baltimore City.

Starting this weekend, the ramp from southbound I-95 to southbound MD 295 (Exit 52) will be temporarily closed on Fridays from 10:00 p.m. to Mondays at 5:00 a.m.  In addition, when the ramp from southbound I-95 to southbound MD 295 is closed, the ramp from Hanover Street to southbound I-95 must also be closed during the same time period.  During the weekend closures, these ramps will also close on Thursdays prior from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.

These ramp closures will be implemented on weekends into August, 2022, but the closures will not occur on weekends when the Baltimore Orioles have scheduled home games

Suggested Detours:

The detour for closure of the ramp from southbound I-95 to southbound MD 295 will direct motorists to I-695 (Exit 49A), to southbound MD 295 (Exit 7A). This detour can be followed for access to Westport and MD 648.

The detour for closure of the ramp from Hanover Street to southbound I-95 will direct motorists to turn right onto E. McComas Street, then to the E. McComas Street on-ramp to southbound I-95.

 

Pleasant Street Ramp Closure and Lane Closures Along the Southbound Jones Falls Expressway

This weekend, the Pleasant Street exit ramp will temporarily close, and lane closures will be implemented along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway for roadwork.

Starting at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022, the Pleasant Street exit ramp from the southbound Jones Falls Expressway will temporarily close to through traffic with detours in effect.  In addition, a left lane closure will be implemented along the southbound Jones Falls Expressway between North Avenue and Fayette Street.  These closures will remain in effect until approximately 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Lane Closures Along MD 295

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented along MD 295 for cleaning activities.

On Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2022, temporary lane closures will be implemented along both northbound and southbound MD 295 between Hamburg Street and the county line from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

S. Caton Avenue Lane Closures

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of S. Caton Avenue for bridge inspection and repair work.

On Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2022, temporary left lane closures will be implemented along the S. Caton Avenue Bridge (over I-95) between Joh Avenue and Desoto Road from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

Joh Avenue Lane Closures

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of Joh Avenue for bridge inspection and repair work.

On Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10, 2022, temporary left lane closures will be implemented along Joh Avenue between Vero Road and Koppers Street from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, weather permitting. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Sole of the City 10K

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for the Sole of the City 10K Run. 

The 10K course kicks off at 8:30 a.m. along S. Caroline Street in Harbor Point and proceeds left on Lancaster Street, left onto the promenade at Central Avenue, left onto the Eastern Avenue Bridge, left on the promenade between Piers 5 & 6, around the lighthouse on Pier 5, left on the bridge between Piers 4 & 5, left around perimeter of Pier 4, and left on the promenade at the Powerplant Building to continue around to the Point Villas.  Participants will exit the promenade right onto Key Highway, right on Light Street, right on Pratt Street, left on Patterson Park Avenue, and right into Patterson Park across from Lombard Street.  Participants will exit the park at Eastern Avenue, turn left onto Patterson Park Avenue, right on Fleet Street, left on Caroline Street, right on Lancaster Street, and left on Central Avenue across the bridge to finish at Harbor Point Circle. 

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, April 9, 2022 from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • S. Caroline Street between Lancaster and Thames Streets
  • S. Central Avenue between Lancaster and Point Streets

In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off for participants along the race route wherever possible. 

Transportation Enforcement Officers along with the Baltimore City Police will be stationed along the race route to help facilitate the movement of traffic.  Commuters should be aware that temporary traffic stops will be implemented for the safety of participants.  Citizens traveling in this vicinity should expect delays, allow additional travel time, and use alternate routes during the event.

 

E. Monument Street Lane Closures

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of E. Monument Street for gas line utility work.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, temporary lane closures will be implemented along E. Monument Street between N. Patterson Park Avenue and N. Port Street from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.  At least one lane of through traffic will remain open for motorists during this time.

S. Charles Street Traffic Flagging Operation

This Saturday, a traffic flagging operation will be implemented along a portion of S. Charles Street for gas line utility work.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, a traffic flagging operation will be implemented along S. Charles Street between W. Madison and W. Read Streets from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.  Traffic flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during this time.

W. Montgomery Street Traffic Flagging Operation

This Saturday, a traffic flagging operation will be implemented along a portion of W. Montgomery Street for gas line utility work.

On Saturday, April 9, 2022, a traffic flagging operation will be implemented along W. Montgomery Street between S. Hanover and Light Streets from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.  Traffic flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone during this time.

Lane Closures Along the Jones Falls Expressway

This Sunday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along the Jones Falls Expressway for cleaning activities.

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, temporary left lane closures will be implemented along both the northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway between Fayette Street and the county line from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, April 10, 2022 the following streets will be closed to through traffic from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Hillen Street from Fallsway to Holliday Street
  • Holliday Street from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Holliday Street at Pleasant Street off ramp left lane closure
