UPDATE: Portion of North Avenue to Remain Closed Due to Sinkhole in Sidewalk

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of North Avenue will remain closed until further notice due to a sinkhole in the sidewalk.

At this time, North Avenue is closed to through traffic in both directions between Greenmount Avenue and Homewood Avenue with detours in effect.  All westbound through traffic is being detoured at Homewood Avenue, and eastbound through traffic is detoured at Greenmount Avenue.  Motorists who typically use this portion of North Avenue for their westbound and eastbound travels are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes away from this area to avoid significant delays, such as Preston Street, Biddle Street, 25th Street, etc.

It is unclear at this time when the roadway will be reopened to traffic.
