Portion of Eastbound W. Chase Street to Close for Construction Work

Eastbound W. Chase Street will close at Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. for several weeks as a new roadway island is installed

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of eastbound W. Chase Street will soon close to through traffic for construction work.  A new roadway island is being installed at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to provide traffic calming and increase pedestrian crosswalk safety.

Starting on or about Monday, March 20, 2023 at 6:00 a.m., eastbound W. Chase Street will be closed to through traffic between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Maryland Avenue with detours in effect.

During this time, the following traffic modifications will also be implemented:

  • Northbound and southbound Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard will be reduced to two lanes of through traffic at W. Chase Street.
  •  
  • Westbound W. Chase Street will be reduced to one lane of through traffic at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
  • Northbound Park Avenue will be reduced to one lane of through traffic at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

This portion of eastbound W. Chase Street is expected to remain closed for approximately three weeks during construction.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

Eastbound W. Chase Street detour:

Motorists traveling east on W. Chase Street will be detoured north on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, east (right) on W. Biddle Street, south (right) on Maryland Avenue and east (left) back to W. Chase Street.
