Weekend Road Closures for Friday, April 14 Through Sunday, April 16, 2023

Portion of Ponca Street to Close for Easter Services

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that a portion of Ponca Street will be closed this weekend for Easter services.

Starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023 Ponca Street will be closed to through traffic between Eastern Avenue and Fleet Street with detours and parking restrictions in effect.  This portion of Ponca Street will remain closed until 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
 

Traffic Modifications for the South Baltimore Little League Opening Day Parade

This Saturday, temporary traffic modifications will be implemented for the South Baltimore Little League Opening Day Parade.

The parade will kick off from the intersection of Randall Street and Covington Street, and will proceed north on Covington Street, right onto Fort Avenue and right on Woodall Street to finish at the entrance of the South Baltimore Little League field.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Randall Street from Riverside Avenue to Jackson Street
  • Covington Street from Randall Street to Fort Avenue
  • Fort Avenue from Henry Street to Woodall Street
  • Woodall Street from Fort Avenue to Whetstone Way

During the parade, temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encourage to use alternate routes.
 

Traffic Modifications for Crane & Cleaning Operations

This Saturday, temporary road and lane closures will be in effect for crane and cleaning operations.  

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, the following street and lane closures will be implemented:

  • Fayette Street closed between Charles and Hanover Streets 4:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • E. Baltimore Street closed between Commerce and President Streets 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • E. Lexington Street closed between Liberty Street and Park Avenue 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Eutaw Place closed between McMechen and Lafayette Streets 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • N. Schroeder Street closed between Baltimore and Fayette Streets 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (crane operation)
  • Hilton Parkway northbound and southbound right lane closures between Edmondson Avenue and North Avenue 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (right of way cleaning)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
 

Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Event

This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the new CFG Bank Arena.

The following lane closures will be implemented on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.:

  • Northbound Howard Street at Pratt Street - left lane closure
  • Eastbound Pratt Street at Howard Street - left lane closure
  • Westbound Lombard Street at Howard Street - right lane closure
  • Eastbound Baltimore Street between Howard Street and Park Avenue - left lane closure

Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians, especially when approaching designated crosswalks. 
 

Traffic Modifications for the Red Shoe Shuffle 5K

This weekend, temporary traffic modifications will be implemented for the Red Shoe Shuffle 5K which will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023.

The race will kick off from the Ronald McDonald House on Aisquith Street at 8:30 a.m.  Participants will proceed left on Fayette Street, right on Central Avenue, right on Eastern Avenue, across the Eastern Avenue Bridge and around the Inner Harbor.  Runners will exit the promenade before the Maryland Science Center and turn right onto Light Street, right on Pratt Street, left on Central Avenue, left on E. Baltimore Street and right on Aisquith Street to finish in front of the Ronald McDonald House.

In preparation for the event, the following road closures will be implemented with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Aisquith Street closed between Fayette Street and Baltimore Street from 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15th  to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 16th 
  • Baltimore Street closed between Lloyd Street and Central Avenue on Sunday, April 16th from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

In addition, one lane of travel will be coned off along the race route for participants where possible and parking restrictions will be implemented.  During the race, temporary traffic stops may be implemented for the safety of participants.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encourage to use alternate routes.
 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, April 16, 2023 the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
