Weekend Road Closures for Thursday, June 15th through Sunday, June 18th, 2023

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary traffic modifications and road closures for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.
 

Traffic Modifications for AFRAM

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and parking restrictions this weekend for AFRAM.  The event will be held in Druid Hill Park on Saturday, June 17th and Sunday, June 18, 2023.  

In preparation for the event, the following roadways will be closed to through traffic starting at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023 and will remain closed until approximately 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Wyman Park Drive at Sisson Street (local access will be maintained to the Boy Scouts of America and Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy)
  • Swann Drive at Druid Park Lake Drive 
  • Beechwood Drive at Gwynns Falls Parkway (local access will be maintained to The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore)

Event Parking:
Parking will be permitted in the following areas while space is available.  Parking attendants will be onsite to direct vehicles, and parking is on a first come, first served basis:

ADA parking will be available on the East Drive parking lot accessible from the Sisson Street entrance to Druid Hill Park.

Shuttle Service:

Thanks to the generous support of the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Maryland Transportation Administration (MTA) and the Charm City Circulator (CCC), AFRAM now has two new shuttle routes to transport attendees to the festival.  

The MDOT MTA Route will operate on a loop starting at Mondawmin Mall and will make the following stops:

  • Liberty Heights (MTA Stop ID 6393)
  • Swann Drive (near Beechwood Drive)
  • CCC Purple Route at 27th Street

The CCC Purple Route will be extended to include the following stops:

  • Wyman Park Drive (overflow pickup at the Steiff Silver Building)
  • East Drive (AFRAM stop before the Dr. Ralph W. E. Jones, Jr. Administration Building)
  • Wyman Park Drive (return - overflow pickup at the Steiff Silver Building)

Transit:
The Mondawmin MetroLink parking lot is closed due to construction.  We strongly encourage attendees to use transit or rideshare to Mondawmin and take the free shuttles directly to the park. 

The closest MDOT MTA Bus Lines to the Mondawmin Station are LocalLinks 22, 26, 29, 79, 82, 85, 91, and CityLinks Navy, Yellow and Lime.  Patrons can take the Light RailLink to the Cultural Center Station on Howard Street, then transfer to the CityLink Lime, or Yellow, Line Bus on North Eutaw Street.

Rideshare:
Lyft/Uber drop off location: 3001 East Drive, entering into the park from the Sisson Street entrance of Druid Hill Park. 

Scooters:
Renting a scooter is a great way to get to Druid Hill Park, but scooters will not be allowed within the festival grounds.  Scotter parking will be available in Druid Hill Park at the tennis courts.

Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Event

On Thursday evening, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena.

The following lane closures will be in effect on Thursday, June 15, 2023 from approximately 8:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. on Friday, June 16th:

  • Northbound Howard Street left lane closure from Camden to Pratt Streets
  • Eastbound Pratt Street left lane closure from Eutaw to Howard Streets
  • Westbound Lombard Street right lane closure from Hopkins Plaza to Howard Street

Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed at key intersections to assist with the movement of traffic in the downtown area.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians, especially when approaching designated crosswalks.

Traffic Modifications for Pride of Mt. Vernon

This Saturday, traffic modifications will be implemented for Pride of Mt. Vernon which will be held in Mt. Vernon.

In preparation for the event, the following road closure will be implemented on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.:

  • Read Street from North Charles Street to Cathedral Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for Right of Way Cleaning Activities and Crane Operations

This weekend, temporary lane and road closures will be implemented for right of way cleaning and crane operations.

The following traffic modifications will be implemented on Saturday, June 17, 2023:

  • Northbound and southbound entrance and exit ramps to 28th Street from the Jones Falls Expressway 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (graffiti removal)
  • 29th Street entrance ramp to the Jones Falls Expressway 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (graffiti removal)
  • Monument Street closed from Broadway to Rutland Avenue 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (crane operation)

The following traffic modifications will be implemented on Sunday, June 18, 2023:

  • Northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway left lane closures from Fayette Street to the city line 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (right of way cleaning)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023 the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
