Weekend Road Closures for Thursday, July 6th through Sunday, July 9th, 2023

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists of the temporary traffic modifications and road closures for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.
 

Traffic Modifications for the Flick On The Hill

This Thursday, temporary road closures will be implemented for the 'Flick On The Hill' outdoor movie night in Federal Hill.

In preparation for the event, the following road closure will be implemented on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.:

  • Covington Street from Key Highway to Cross Street

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Caribbean Carnival and Festival

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the traffic modifications that will be in effect this weekend for the Baltimore/Washington One Caribbean Carnival and Festival 2023.  The festival will be held in Druid Hill Park on Saturday, July 8th and Sunday, July 9, 2023. 

In addition to the festival, a parade will be held on Saturday, July 8th from approximately 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.  Participants will begin staging for the parade along Druid Park Drive between Reisterstown Road and Liberty Heights Avenue.  The parade kicks off from the intersection of Reisterstown Road and Druid Park Drive, and participants will turn right onto Reisterstown Road, continue south along Reisterstown Road onto McCulloh Street, then turn left onto Druid Park Lake Drive and left on Swann Drive to proceed north into Druid Hill Park.  Participants will then turn right onto East Drive and left on Red Road to disband at East Drive.

In preparation for the parade, the following road closures will be implemented with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Carlins Park Drive closed at Druid Park Drive – 6:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023 through 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023.
  • Druid Park Drive closed between Liberty Heights Avenue and Reisterstown Road – Saturday, July 8, 2023 from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Reisterstown Road at Druid Park Drive will temporarily close at approximately 12:00 p.m. for the beginning of the parade until all participants move onto Auchentoroly Terrace.  This closure will also affect traffic traveling southbound on Park Heights Avenue.
  • Southbound Aunchentoroly Terrace at Reisterstown Road will be temporarily closed starting at approximately 12:00 p.m.

During the parade, the following traffic detour will be in effect to direct motorists around the parade area:    

  • Westbound Druid Park Drive traffic will be detoured right onto Park Heights Avenue, left on W. Cold Spring Lane, left on Wabash Avenue, continue on Wabash Avenue until it becomes Dorithan Road, continue on Dorithan Road to turn right onto Hilton Road, and then left on Liberty Heights Avenue to end detour.

The following parking restrictions will also be implemented this weekend for the parade and festival:

Carlins Park Drive from Druid Park Drive to Dead End – 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 7th to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8th 

Druid Park Drive from Liberty Heights Avenue to Reisterstown Road – Saturday, July 8th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (parade assembly area)

Swann Drive from Druid Park Lake Drive to Mansion House Drive – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7th to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 9th 

East Drive from Mansion House Drive to Pool Service Drive – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7th to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 9th 

Beechwood Drive from Gwynns Falls Parkway to Swann Drive – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7th to 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 9th 

Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented along the route during the parade for the safety of participants.  All posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.

Traffic Enforcement Officers (TEO’S) will assist Baltimore City Police with traffic control at intersections along the parade route.  Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are encouraged to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

 

Lane and Road Closures for Right of Way Cleaning, Crane Operations and Special Events

This weekend, temporary lane and road closures will be implemented for right of way cleaning, crane operations and special events.

The following lane and road closures will be implemented on Saturday, July 8, 2023:

  • Southbound right lane closures along I-83/Jones Falls Expressway from the city line to Guilford Avenue 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (right of way cleaning)

  • Eutaw Street closed between Pratt Street and Lombard Street 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)

  • Fayette Street closed between Howard Street and Eutaw Street 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (crane operation)

The following lane and road closures will be implemented on Sunday, July 9, 2023:

  • Northbound and southbound right lane closures along Hilton Parkway from Edmondson Avenue to North Avenue 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (right of way cleaning)
  • Left lane closures along Pratt Street from Calvert Street to South Street 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (special event)
  • Longwood Street closed from Bloomingdale Road to Brighton Street 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. (special event)

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which is held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, July 9, 2023 the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
