Friday Oct 6th, 2023
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) would like to advise motorists that heavy traffic volumes are expected in downtown Baltimore this weekend for multiple events.
The City of Baltimore is gearing up for an exciting weekend ahead with numerous events happening simultaneously downtown. For the first time since 2014, the Baltimore Orioles are the AL East Division Champions and will be hosting playoff games at Oriole Park at Camden Yards this Saturday starting at 1:03 p.m. and Sunday beginning at 4:07 p.m. In addition to the playoff games, Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks will be performing live in concert on Saturday evening at M&T Bank Stadium, Mexican star Carin Leon will be performing at the nearby CFG Bank Arena, along with other festivals and events happening in the downtown area.
Fans attending any of these events on Saturday & Sunday are encouraged to come early and stay late to avoid possible traffic congestion and delays. Motorists should plan ahead for heavy volumes of traffic in the downtown area on Saturday & Sunday by allowing additional travel time. Motorists should also be on the watch for high pedestrian traffic in the downtown area this weekend, particularly in the vicinity of the stadiums.
Those who are driving downtown should be advised that all posted parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations in the vicinity of the stadiums will be strictly enforced. Vehicles parked in violation are subject to being ticketed and towed. Patrons attending stadium events who do not have passes for the stadium lots are strongly encouraged to use parking garages in the downtown area and avoid parking in nearby neighborhoods.
Patrons attending these events are strongly encouraged to use mass transit or ride share options including the Light Rail, Metro Subway, Local Bus, Charm City Circulator, e-bikes and e-scooters.
Throughout the weekend, Transportation Enforcement Officers along with the Baltimore City Police will be stationed in the downtown area to assist with the movement of traffic. Commuters can download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.
