Weekend Road Closures for Friday, December 15 Through Sunday, December 17, 2023

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities this weekend.  Please download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.  All activities are weather permitting and BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates.

 

Traffic Modifications for Charm City Lights

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the Charm City Lights display at Druid Hill Park. 

The event runs nightly through Monday, January 1, 2024.  On these days, Druid Hill Park will close to non-participants at 5:00 p.m.  Display attendees must enter the park near the Rawlings Conservatory entrance at Gwynns Falls Parkway and Beechwood Drive.  All other park entrances will be closed nightly through Monday, January 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each night:

  • Swann Drive closed at Druid Park Lake Drive
  • Sission Street and East Drive – Closed for inbound traffic into Druid Hill Park

Please note that all vehicles must vacate the park by 3:00 p.m. daily, except from the Rawlings Conservatory parking area, as cars will begin to be towed from the park at this time. Motorists should adhere to all posted parking restrictions to avoid being ticketed and towed. 

 

Lane Closures for CFG Bank Arena Events

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be implemented in the vicinity of the CFG Bank Arena for arena events.

The following lane closures will be implemented on Friday, December 15, 2023 from approximately 7:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 16, 2023 from approximately 8:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.:

  • Left lane of Howard Street from Camden Street to Pratt Street
  • Left lane of Pratt Street from Eutaw Street to Howard Street 
  • Right lane of Lombard Street from Hopkins Plaza to Howard Street 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
 

Traffic Modifications for Cleaning Activities

This weekend, temporary lane closures will be in effect for cleaning activities. 

On Saturday, December 16, 2023, the following lane closures will be implemented:

  • Northbound and southbound MD 295 left lane closures from Hamburg Street to the city/county line 5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (cleaning activities)


On Sunday, December 17, 2023, the following lane closures will be implemented:

  • Northbound and southbound Jones Falls Expressway/I-83 right lane “moving” closures from Fayette Street to the city/county line 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (cleaning activities).

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

 

Traffic Modifications for the Celtic Solstice Five Mile Race

This Saturday, temporary road and lane closures will be implemented for the Celtic Solstice Five Mile Race which will be held in Druid Hill Park beginning at 8:30 a.m.

In preparation for the event, the following roads will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, December 16, 2023 starting at approximately 7:00 a.m. with detours in effect:

  • Beechwood Drive, from Gwynns Falls Parkway to Swann Drive
  • Swann Drive, from Druid Park Lake Drive to Mansion House Drive
  • East Drive, from Mansion House Drive to Wyman Park Drive
  • Pool Service Drive, from East Drive to Red Road
  • Red Road, from Pool Service Drive to Shop Road
  • Shop Road, from Red Road to Grove Road
  • Grove Road from Shop Road to Red Road.


Race Route:

  • Begin heading south on Safari Place
  • Left on Beechwood Drive to the end
  • Left on Swann Drive
  • Right on East Drive and turnaround just before crossing over I-83 bridge
  • Right onto Pool Service Drive
  • Right onto Red Road
  • Right onto Shop Road and continue onto Grove Road
  • Right on Red Road
  • Right onto East Drive
  • Right on Mansion House Drive
  • Right on Swann Drive
  • Right on Beechwood Drive
  • Right on Safari Place to finish.

During the event, one travel lane will be coned off along the route for participants wherever possible. The Baltimore City Police & Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed along the route to help facilitate the movement of traffic. Commuters should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the race for the safety of participants.
 

Traffic Modifications for the Concord Community Christmas Parade

This Saturday, temporary road closures will be implemented for the Concord Community Christmas Parade.

In preparation for the event, the following roads will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, December 16, 2023 starting at approximately 8:30 a.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:

  • Liberty Heights Avenue from North Rogers Avenue to Gwynn Oak Avenue
  • West side of Gwynn Oak Avenue from Liberty Heights Avenue to Belle Avenue
  • Belle Avenue from Gwynn Oak Avenue to Marmon Avenue.
  • Marmon Avenue from Belle Avenue to Liberty Heights Avenue

The following parking restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.:

  • Both sides Liberty Heights Avenue from Marmon to Gwynn Oak Avenues
  • West side Gwynn Oak Avenue from Liberty Heights Avenue to Belle Avenue (west side only will be impacted)
  • Both sides of Belle Avenue from Gwynn Oak Avenue to Marmon Avenue
  • Both sides of Marmon Avenue from Belle Avenue to Liberty Heights Avenue
  • Both sides of Chandler Avenue from Marmon Avenue to the end of the parking lot on west of Marmon Avenue

Parade Route:

  • The parade will start at the intersection of Marmon Avenue and Liberty Heights Avenue and participants will proceed east on Liberty Heights Avenue towards Gwynn Oak Avenue
  • Left onto Gwynn Oak Avenue and continue north against the flow of traffic
  • Left onto Belle Avenue
  • Left on Marmon Avenue to end parade route at Marmon Avenue and Peerless Avenue

 Liberty Heights Avenue Eastbound Detour:

  • Right turn onto North Rogers Avenue
  • Left on Gwynn Oak Avenue back to Liberty Heights Avenue
  • Right onto Liberty Heights Avenue to continue for eastbound travel

 Liberty Heights Avenue Westbound Detour:

  • Left on Gwynn Oak Avenue
  • Right on Rogers Avenue
  • Left onto Liberty Heights Avenue to continue for westbound travel

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
 

Traffic Modifications for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar

This Sunday, traffic modifications will be in effect for the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, which will be held under the Jones Falls Expressway along Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets.

On Sunday, December 17, 2023 the following street and lane closures will be implemented from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with detours in effect:

  • Holliday Street closed from Pleasant Street to Saratoga Street
  • Pleasant Street closed at Holliday Street
  • Hillen Street center lane closure at Fallsway
