BALTIMORE, MD (November 13, 2013) – Today, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was joined by representatives from City agencies, including the Department of Transportation, the Department of Public Works, the Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Department of General Services to announce preparations for the upcoming 2013-2014 snow season. With a budget of $2.7 million, the City’s snow removal efforts include over 300 essential personnel, 150 pieces of equipment and 15,000 tons of salt.

“The City of Baltimore has readied its equipment and conducted driver training exercises to ensure that we are ready for the winter season,” said Mayor Rawlings- Blake. “We are fully prepared to deliver prompt and efficient service to the citizens of Baltimore.”

Key City agencies provided pertinent information and helpful tips for the public in preparation for the inclement weather. Today’s presentations stressed the importance of being prepared for the unpredictable winter season.

Mayor Rawlings-Blake urges residents and motorists to do their part to prepare for emergencies and inclement weather. Citizens should keep necessary supplies, such as fresh batteries, flashlights, blankets, portable radios, bottled water, medicines and other important items on hand. Residents are strongly encouraged to remain indoors and refrain from driving during severe weather unless absolutely necessary.
