Heavy Volumes of Traffic Expected in Areas of Baltimore City on Wednesday, March 1st and Thursday, March 2nd

Motorists traveling in the downtown area and beyond should be prepared for possible congestion and delays; Charm City Circulator Banner Route will also be detoured

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that heavy traffic volumes are expected in downtown Baltimore and areas beyond on Wednesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 2, 2023

Heavy volumes of traffic are expected downtown and in areas beyond the central business district (CBD) on Wednesday, March 1st from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, March 2nd from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Temporary traffic stops and possible road closures will be implemented during these times which will cause congestion and delays.  Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead if traveling in the downtown vicinity during these times by allowing additional commute time. 

The following roadways will be affected on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with parking restrictions in effect (where applicable):

  • Fort Avenue – Richardson Street to Fort McHenry
  • Andre Street – Fort Avenue to McComas Street
  • Howard Street – Camden Street to I-395
  • Charles Street – Pratt to Montgomery Streets
  • Conway Street – Light to Howard Streets
  • McHenry Row – Key Highway to Fort Avenue

Parking restrictions will also be implemented along the various streets listed above on Wednesday and Thursday where applicable.  Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed, so motorists are strongly encouraged to pay close attention to and obey all posted parking restrictions

Modifications to the Charm City Circulator’s Banner Route will also be implemented on Wednesday and Thursday.  A temporary detour of the Banner Route will be in place from approximately 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1st and from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2023 which will affect the Andre Street stop #410 and the Fort McHenry stop #411.  The Banner Route will be detoured from southbound Fort Avenue, and will turn left onto Decatur Street, right on Clement Street, right on Hull Street, and right onto Fort Avenue to resume the normal route.  Patrons may use the Towson Street stop #412 during this time.  Additional information can be found on the Charm City Circulator’s webpage.

In addition, some MDOT MTA Bus and Light Rail services will be affected on Wednesday and Thursday.  Patrons should visit the MDOT MTA website for additional details.
