The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the following activities happening this week. Traffic Modifications for Charm City Lights
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and traffic modifications for the Charm City Lights display at Druid Hill Park. The inaugural event will begin this evening, Monday, December 4th, with public access to the display starting on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. The event will run nightly through Monday, January 1, 2024. On these days, Druid Hill Park will close to non-participants at 5:00 p.m. Display attendees must enter the park near theRawlings Conservatory entrance at Gwynns Falls Parkway and Beechwood Drive. All other entrances will be closed nightly starting Monday, December 4, 2023 through Monday, January 1, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. each night:
- Swann Drive closed at Druid Park Lake Drive
- Sission Street and East Drive – Closed for inbound traffic into Druid Hill Park
Please note that all vehicles must vacate the park by 3:00 p.m. daily, except from the Rawlings Conservatory parking area, as cars will begin to be towed from the park at that time. Motorists should adhere to all posted parking restrictions to avoid being ticketed and towed.
Traffic Modifications for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting at War Memorial Plaza
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and parking restrictions that will be implemented for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting which will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at War Memorial Plaza.
In preparation for the event, the following road and lane closures will be implemented on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 starting at 3:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- E. Lexington Street closed from Guilford Avenue to N. Gay Street
- N. Holliday Street closed from E. Lexington Street to E. Saratoga Street
- West side of N. Gay Street curb lane closure from E. Fayette Street to E. Lexington Street
- North side of Fayette Street curb lane closure from N. Gay Street to N. Holliday Street
Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for pedestrians and are strongly encouraged to use alternate routes.
Traffic Modifications for the Monument Lighting at Mount Vernon Place
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists of the temporary road closures and parking restrictions that will be implemented for the 52nd annual lighting of the Washington Monument. The event will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in historic Mount Vernon.
In preparation for the event, the following streets will be closed to through traffic from 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6th through 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- West side of N. Charles Street from E. Centre to E. Madison Streets
- West Mt. Vernon Place (both sides) from N. Charles to Cathedral Streets
In addition, the following streets will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect:
- East side of N. Charles Street from E. Centre to Read Streets
- Madison Street from St. Paul to Cathedral Streets
- E. Mt. Vernon Place (both sides) from St. Paul to N. Charles Streets
During the event, Transportation Enforcement Officers and the Baltimore City Police will be deployed in the vicinity to help facilitate the movement of traffic. All posted parking restrictions will be strictly enforced, and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and towed.
