Overnight Closures of Druid Park Lake Drive to Begin Sunday, October 20, 2024

Road closure is needed for resurfacing activities; Big Jump Trail will be detoured until this work is complete.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that overnight closures of Druid Park Lake Drive will occur for resurfacing work.  

Beginning at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 20th, eastbound and westbound Druid Park Lake Drive will be closed to through traffic between Madison Avenue and Sisson Street.  This portion of Druid Park Lake Drive will be reopened to traffic by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024.

Overnight closures of eastbound and westbound Druid Park Lake Drive will continue nightly, including weekdays and weekends, starting at approximately 7:00 p.m. each night until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.  These overnight closures are expected to be implemented nightly through November 1, 2024, except on Saturday, October 26th.  Please note that these overnight closures and date for completion are approximate, depending on weather conditions and construction schedules.

During the overnight closures of Druid Park Lake Drive, the following ramps will also be closed to traffic with detours in effect:

  • The Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 southbound exit ramp to Druid Park Lake Drive (exit 7)
  • The Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 northbound exit ramp to Druid Park Drive Lake (exit 7)
  • The westbound 29th Street ramp to Druid Park Lake Drive
  • The eastbound Fulton Avenue ramp to Druid Park Lake Drive   

In addition to the overnight road and ramp closures, the Big Jump Trail along Druid Park Lake Drive will be detoured for bicyclists and pedestrians throughout the duration of the resurfacing work.  Starting at approximately 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 20th and continuing through November 1, 2024, the following detour for the Big Jump will be implemented:

  • Big Jump users heading eastbound will be detoured southeast on Madison Avenue toward Cloverdale Road, left onto Hendler Lane, left onto Linden Avenue, then right onto the Druid Park Lake Drive concrete path.  The detour route continues left toward W. 28th Street, across the footbridge over W. 28th Street and Druid Park Lake Drive, to continue onto W. 28th Street.  This same path will be followed in the opposite direction for Big Jump users heading westbound. 

Various signs have been placed in the area to alert motorists of the overnight closures of Druid Park Lake Drive, area ramp overnight closures, and the Big Jump detour.  Detour signs will also be posted.  Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns during this time.

Suggested Druid Park Lake Drive detour routes:

  • Eastbound Druid Park Lake Drive traffic will be detoured south on Madison Avenue, east on W. North Avenue, and north on the Jones Falls Expressway to the W. 28th Street exit.
  • Traffic from W. 29th Street and Sisson Street destined for westbound Druid Park Lake Drive will be detoured over the W. 29th Street Bridge to the southbound Jones Falls Expressway, then to the W. North Avenue exit, then north on McCulloh Street to Druid Park Lake Drive.
