Hanover Street Bridge Closure Scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2020
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that the Hanover Street Bridge/Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will temporarily close this Saturday for maintenance work.
On Saturday, June 27, 2020 the Hanover Street Bridge / Vietnam Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed to through traffic in both directions between Waterview Avenue and Cromwell Street from 4:00 a.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m. with detours in effect, weather permitting.
Variable message signs will be deployed in the area to alert motorists of the closure. Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
During the closure, citizens should utilize Russell Street/MD-295 as an alternate route:
Southbound Hanover Street detour:
Southbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured south on I-95, south on MD-295, south on Waterview Avenue via the Annapolis Road exit, then back to Hanover Street.
Northbound Hanover Street detour:
Northbound Hanover Street traffic will be detoured west on Waterview Avenue, north on MD-295, east on Hamburg Street back to Hanover Street.
Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions in Fells Point
This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented in Fells Point.
On Friday, June 26, 2020 and continuing each evening through Sunday, June 28, 2020, all through traffic will be restricted in Fells Point from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. within the following geographical boundaries:
- South of Aliceanna Street
- North of Thames Street
- East of S. Bond Street
- West of S. Ann Street
In addition, the following parking restrictions will also be implemented in Fells Point on Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28, 2020 daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.:
- Broadway from Aliceanna to Lancaster Streets
- Broadway from Shakespeare to Thames Streets
- 1600-1800 blocks of Thames Street
- 1600-1700 blocks of Lancaster Street
- 1600 block of Shakespeare Street
Fells Point visitors and residents should pay close attention to all posted parking restrictions and avoid parking in restricted areas. Residential Permit Parking (RPP) will be strictly enforced throughout the weekend in Fells Point (RPP Area 16) and vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed.
Fells Point Residential Permit Parking in Area 16 will be enforced along the following roadways:
• Aliceanna Street • Broadway
• Fleet Street • Shakespeare Street
• Ann Street • Thames Street
• Lancaster Street • Dallas Street
• Bethel Street • Wolfe Street
• Register Street • Durham Street
• Bond Street • Fell Street
To ensure that Fells Point residents have access to parking near their homes, residents will be allowed to access areas closed to through traffic with their Area 16 Residential Parking permits.
As we continue efforts to reduce vehicular traffic and enhance the pedestrian experience in historic Fells Point, motorists traveling in this area should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Concrete jersey barriers will be in place at all closed intersections to warn drivers approaching the areas.
Edmondson Avenue Temporary Lane Closures
This Saturday, temporary lane closures will be implemented along a portion of Edmondson Avenue for a crane lift operation. On Saturday, June 27, 2020, temporary lane closures will be implemented along Edmondson Avenue between Franklintown Road and Franklin Street from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weather permitting. At least one lane of through traffic will remain open for motorists.

S. Franklintown Road Temporary Closure
This Saturday, a portion of S. Franklintown Road will temporarily close for utility repair work. On Saturday, June 27, 2020, S. Franklintown Road will be closed to through traffic between Baltimore and Pratt Streets from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect, weather permitting.
Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
Cross Street Temporary Closure
This Saturday, a portion of Cross Street will temporarily close for a crane lift operation. On Saturday, June 27, 2020, Park Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Washington Boulevard and Carroll Street from 2:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect, weather permitting.
