Traffic Modifications for the Maryland Greek Independence Day Parade

This weekend, temporary road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect for the Maryland Greek Independence Day Parade.  The parade will be held in Greektown on Sunday, March 24, 2024 from approximately 2:00-5:00 p.m.  

Participants will begin at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Haven Street and will proceed east on Eastern Avenue, and south (right) on Ponca Street for approximately one block to disband at Fleet Street in front of the Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

In preparation for this event, the following street will be closed to through traffic on Saturday, March 23, 2024 from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect: 

• Ponca Street between Fleet Street and Eastern Avenue.

Then on Sunday, March 24, 2024, the following streets will be closed to through traffic from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with detours and parking restrictions in effect: 

• Ponca Street between Fait Avenue and Eastern Avenue.
• Eastern Avenue between Ponca Street and Haven Street.
• Oldham Street between Eastern Avenue and Bank Street.
• Ponca Street between Fleet Street and Eastern Avenue (closed from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)

Motorists should be advised that temporary traffic stops may be implemented during the parade for the safety of participants.  Drivers traveling in this vicinity should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Traffic Modifications for Weekend Activities

This weekend, temporary road and ramp closures will be in effect for various activities. 

On Friday, March 22, 2024 at 8:00 p.m. through Sunday, March 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m., the following road closure will be implemented (times approximate):

• Greene Street closed between Redwood and Baltimore Streets (crane operation)

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, the following road closure will be implemented (times approximate):

Liberty Street closed between Lexington and Clay Streets 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (crane operation)

On Sunday, March 24, 2024, the following ramp closure will be implemented (times approximate):

• Erdman Avenue ramp to eastbound Pulaski Highway closed 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Motorists traveling in these vicinities should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
