The Baltimore Citywide Truck Routes Map is a proactive approach to managing freight movement throughout the city. Truck drivers utilize the map to determine their specific routes from origination points to destinations. The truck routes map specifies “Through Routes” (Red) and “Local Routes” (blue), and the nearest intersections that will accommodate (geometry) freight vehicles. This helps truckers maneuver city streets, safely, quickly, and efficiently, to complete their deliveries or pick-ups. The map also identifies “Restricted Routes” (green), which prohibits freight vehicles between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. 

City residents also find the truck routes map useful, in mitigating their own travels throughout the city. Some residents are not comfortable with the truck movement and would prefer to utilize streets with fewer commercial vehicles, while other residents may have a concern about perceived unsafe truck speeds.
